The Watts Towers Arts Center is proud to present a retrospective exhibition honoring the work and legacy of award-winning artist, educator, and political cartoonist David G. Brown. This special showcase will highlight Brown’s powerful visual storytelling, chronicling decades of cultural commentary, social justice advocacy, and artistic excellence.

A Legacy of Visual Storytelling

For over two decades, David G. Brown has used his art as a catalyst for change, tackling pressing social issues through political cartoons, illustrations, and graphic novels. Best known for his editorial work in the Los Angeles Sentinel, Brown’s keen eye and sharp wit have earned him multiple Merit Awards from the National Newspapers Publishers Association (NNPA), along with an NAACP Image Award for his book Obama, Race, and the Media: Drawing My Own Conclusions.


His work captures pivotal moments in history, offering insight into themes of racial justice, political discourse, and cultural identity. From satirical depictions of American politics to heartfelt tributes to Black excellence, Brown’s art has left an indelible mark on both local and national audiences.
